|Cape Safaris and Lodges Description
Most people who visit South Africa have a safari on their list of "Things to do". Throughout the country there are many Game Reserves, Parks, Lodges etc, where, in most cases you can see the "Big Five" The most widely known of these is The Kruger National Park which is South Africa's flagship Game Reserve. It covers an area of 2 million hectares ( The size of Wales ) and is situated in the Northern Province, where it borders Mozambique and Swaziland. For full details please visit -www.sanparks.org Then click on Parks.
The "BIG FIVE" are Lion, African Elephant, Buffalo, Leopard & Black Rhinoceros. They are so called, from many years ago, because they were the most difficult to hunt, and not by their size eg- Hippo or Giraffe. Interestingly, there are a "LITTLE FIVE" They are Buffalo Weaver Bird, Elephant Shrew, Leopard Tortoise, Ant Lion and Rhino Beetle.
For those who visit the tip of Africa,in particular the Western Cape there is now an extensive array of game reserves, lodges and parks to visit. Some of these are a 3 to 4 hour drive from Cape Town and some are along the Garden Route heading towards Plettenberg Bay and the Eastern Cape.
