    Public Holidays Description

    South Africa has more Public ( Bank ) holidays than the UK. There are 12 in total,however if there is an election then that "election day" is also classed as a public holiday.

    They are as follows -

    New Years Day --- 1st January.
    Human Rights Day --- 21st March.
    Good Friday --- see below
    Easter Monday / Family Day --- see below
    Freedom Day --- 27th April.
    Workers Day --- 1st May.
    Youth Day --- 16th June.
    National Woman's Day --- 9th August.
    Heritage Day --- 24th September. (Also know as National Braai Day ! )
    Day Of Reconcilliation --- 16th December.
    Christmas Day --- 25th December.
    Day Of Goodwill --- 26th December.


    If any Public Holidays fall on a Sunday the following Monday shall be a Public Holiday.

    MOTHERS DAY - The second Sunday in May (Not classed as public holiday )
    FATHERS DAY - The third Sunday in June (Not classed as public holiday )
